Have You Missed Me?

First of all, Merry Christmas to those of you that celebrate Christmas! Happy holidays to others! No…I didn’t fall off the face of the earth, nor did I give up on my 100 day challenge. I simply got a bit overwhelmed with the holidays and other projects I’m working on to help me get where I want to be by March 18th.
And has it ever been busy! I realized that I started my challenge at a bad time…but like I said in a previous post…if you don’t start somewhere, you’ll never start! As you can imagine, the holiday foods have been quite a distraction from my weight loss plan. But I’m certainly not letting that change my ultimate goal. 165 lbs by March 18th. I’m currently sitting about about 191, so I have a long way to go. I’m actually kinda glad that I’m at 191 and haven’t ballooned back up with all this great food I’ve been eating!
My Drupal learning is moving forward. I purchased a book on Drupal and have found several new websites that offer some great information for us “newbies”. I’ve actually set up a couple of new websites, albeit very simple ones. I learn and become more familiar with Drupal every time I use it. I really think it’s going to be a fabulous way to build sites. Tons of flexibility! And I never realized how many “high profile” websites were using Drupal?
Santa Claus, (a great guy by the way
), brought me a new book for Christmas. Many of you have probably read it or at least heard of it. It’s called, “The 4 Hour Workweek” by Timothy Ferriss. In it, he offers some great ways to cut back on the number of hours that you work every week. I don’t know that I’ll get to 4 hours per week anytime soon, but I think I can certainly cut back by a substantial amount. And the premise of the book is a good one. Take time to do the things you love to do NOW! We work our whole lives to save for retirement, so we can go and do as we please. Well I don’t know about you…but beginning this “fun” time in our lives at 65 or 70 doesn’t sound all that fun?!?! Sure…I expect that will be a great time in my life, but I hope to have been enjoying “mini-retirements” long before I reach that age! And besides…how often do you hear of someone that has worked and saved all their life, then shortly after they retire, they find out they have cancer or some other debilitating disease and can’t enjoy what they have worked so long for? It’s really sad that life has to turn out that way, but it does for many. You have the power and the ability to make very positive changes in your life. Choosing to do so is the real key here.
Going forward, I’m going to provide updates on how I’m doing to reach my goals, but I’ve decided that posting every day is pretty much ridiculous. First of all…chances are I won’t have a lot to say, and secondly, most of you could probably care less about coming here EVERY day to read my blog. When I have news to report, I’ll be sure to post…but in the meantime, I’ll be working on attaining my goals.
Thats all for now. Hope you have a great weekend!
