I Buried An Old Friend Today
A beloved friend and companion has gone to spend the rest of eternity with God.
Sam, (short for Samantha) passed away Thursday, May 10th 2007, of natural causes. She was 98, (in dog years). Yes…Sam was my little toy poodle.
Sam’s health had deteriorated over the last few years. At the time of her death she was blind and almost deaf. Sam became my buddy back when I got divorced in the early 90′s. She was just a pup then…full of energy. Always excited to meet me at the door after a long day at work. She loved to ride in a vehicle, knew a few tricks and would sit quietly beside me on the couch while watching a movie.
One of her favorite tricks was to “roll over” for a treat! She would gladly stop what she was doing, drop to the ground roll over in the blink of an eye, then sit and wait patiently for her prize. I think she would have still done that the day she died, if I’d just asked her to.
I’ll miss Sam, but I know she was ready to go. Do I believe I’ll see her again someday? I don’t know that I’ll necessarily “see” her, but I think that we’ll be together again someday. I think her spirit & energy will live on just as everyone elses will.
Thanks Sam, for all you gave me. You won’t be forgotten.

Hi Chris,
Thanks for leaving a comment on my site. Of course, hearing about your dog dying I had to come straight over and read the post! But I will be careful not to click on too many ads
Sorry about Sam, but it sounds like she had a long and happy life.
Came across your site and was drawn to this post. I’m sorry for your loss and can sympathize, I lost a dog lost year to cancer and it was harder than I ever imagined. I hope you had support with the grief
Tell me what you're thinking...
