Weekend Away In Fayetteville Arkansas

My wife, daughter and I, had a great weekend as we traveled to Fayetteville Arkansas to attend a wedding for one of my wife’s relatives. It was really great to see friends & family that we haven’t seen in a while and we were really happy & excited for the couple that got married. They’re good kids and I know they will have many years of happiness ahead of them. Well OK….times will suck every once in a while, but for the most part I’m sure they’ll be just fine! :)

After the wedding we attended the reception at “Uncle Gaylord’s” in downtown Fayetteville. With it being a wedding reception, it was a bit difficult to get a feel for what the place was like normally, but it did seem to have a cozy appeal to it. We’ll have to try it next time we’re in that area. Entertainment was provided by a live band, and I could kick myself for not knowing the bands name?!?! On top of that, I wasn’t smart enough to remember to carry my camera, so I got no pics!!! After the reception, we went back to the home of the parents of the groom and finished out the evening there before heading back to the hotel.

After sleeping in Sunday morning, we stopped and had lunch at AQ Chicken House. If you’ve never been there, you really should give it a try if you’re ever in the area. We arrived right after they opened, so were seated immediately and waited on promptly. The food was great as usual.

From there, we started back home and decided to take a detour by Devil’s Den State Park, not far out of Fayetteville. Some friends we were traveling with had been there before, but it was the first time for my wife and I. It’s a really cool state park and I wish we could have spent more time there. We did get out and wander around a bit and checked out some of the cabins that they rent. I was impressed by the cleanliness of the area. They have a nice size public swimming pool that was well staffed and in great condition. There is also a stream that has been dammed up to form a nice little lake where you could rent paddle boats and enjoy the water.

After looking around the park for an hour or so, we headed home. Although it was only about a 2.5 hour drive, it felt longer. I think I could have used a bit more sleep the night before! But we made it home, safe and sound, without incident.

I love weekends like this. Visiting great friends and enjoying the natural beauty of Northwest Arkansas makes for a really special time for me. In a world where we stay far too busy, it also gives me a chance to share some quality time with my wife and daughter. One of my dreams is to someday be in a position where we can just load up and go whenever and wherever our hearts desire. Blogging along the way about each restaurant and cool place we visit or stay. Sounds like my kinda job!

    Hi Neighbor!

    *Waving* from Malvern.

Beautiful country in northwest AR and the Ozarks, isn’t it? Absolutely BEE-U-tiful in the fall! So are the Ouachita Mountains in my area of the state.

Glad to have crossed paths with you on BlogCatalog.com and look forward to seeing you around.
