SPAM Sucks!

I know my plight is not new to any of you that have your own blogs and or websites. Heck…if you just have an email account, you probably suffer from the dreaded SPAM! My gosh…how can man or machine pump out so much crap?

Actually my home/personal account doesn’t get that much. The occasional email telling me I’ve won some exorbitant amount of money. But the spammers have definitely found my contact addresses for my websites and blogs! Fortunately, the email program I’m using is pretty accurate at flagging the spam, so clicking check-boxes and hitting “delete all” cleans it out…but it’s still annoying. No matter how many times I tell them I don’t need Viagra or Cialis, they still keep sending me the emails! :)

The latest little trick I’ve seen is the email saying that I’ve successfully up for some website, and here is my password and user ID. “Just click on this link to change your password”. Now it’s pretty obvious that I haven’t signed up for these sites…but to the unsuspecting, they might feel they should investigate further. I don’t even know what the scam involves as I haven’t even looked into it, but I’m sure they try and get your password and personal information somehow. Ahhh…the tricks never end!

Just ranting a little this morning. As you can see…my posting has been very slow as of late. Between my “real” job and trying to put together some other sites and blogs, I seem to have over-extended myself once again. I’m afraid it shows as well in the number of visitors I’m getting. :( I promise to try and do better!

I had to tell you though, one of the latest blogs I’ve put together is for my high school graduating class. It’s a simple blog that will hopefully allow our group to stay in touch online and maybe plan a get-together every now and then. I’m having fun with it!

Ok…gotta go! Sincerely wish I could hang around and write more, but work beckons me!

    However, gmail works for me just fine in filtering SPAM.

    3. It’s problem we all just have to deal with, Spammers are always one step ahead of the filters. Once people stop actully falling for the scams then the spam will stop hopefully, but there is always someone who is just dim enough to fall for one of these scams.

    7. Peter’s Anti-Spam plugin works great on wordpress. It’s captcha based, but you define the words, and they’re actually very readable.

    10. Spams is really driving me crazy. Sometimes I tend to believe on them. Maybe sometimes I’m just greedy for money. They sent me many kinds of emails, mentioned that I’ve won a lottery, I was the number 999 visitor to that site so a prize will be given to me. When I was still young and first used the internet, I do believe on it. But now definitely NO. I face the same problem with you. I keep on unsubscribe the newsletter which is actually spam, but it never disappear in my mail box.

    12. I really wish that spam will never appear in my email inbox anymore. Everytime when I see there are emails in my inbox, I will hope that they are messages from my friends. But they are spams. sigh…

    15. Yeah, i hate spamming. I’ve been spending my time deleting spamming at my mail. Kinda frustrating with all the nonsense they sending in. Sometimes spams mail are more than my friends mail. Don’t they feel tired, well i do.

    19. I know what you mean. non stop SPAM. Everyday I opem my email box and lucky enough my filters capture most of it. It’s a pain.

    22. I usually delete all unsolcited e mails without reading them, just like my junk mail goes in the bin. However, just occasionally one will catch my eye and I’ll read it. The ones from wealthy Nigerian heiresses are the ones that make me laugh, but there not funny really. I feel so sorry for the innocent people who get sucked into them. There but for the grace of God —–.

    25. I totally agree with you! likewise, i always got spam on my email box. what the heck! why is it there a lots of spammer out of our emails..its terrible..
