Weekend On Greers Ferry Lake

Our weekend trip to the lake didn’t quite turn out like we planned. The weather didn’t really cooperate, but we had a good time just the same. A thunderstorm passed over the lake where we were Saturday afternoon and dumped a lot of rain on us. Being in the middle of a thunderstorm when you’re in a boat on lake, can be a frightening experience…especially for the young children on board.

Fortunately we have a hard enclosure on our boat so staying dry was not a problem. Hearing lightening pop around us was the scary part! But we lived to tell about it, and after the storm blew over, it actually turned out to be a pretty nice afternoon.

We stayed at the marina overnight and listened to more storms pass over, (it’s not nearly as scary being in a covered slip at the marina…in fact it’s pretty enjoyable listening to the rain, and knowing you’re out of harms way!) We awoke this morning to yet more rain, so we pretty much decided that we would give up on trying to get out on the water today.

The weather wasn’t exactly great, but positive things did come from our trip. First and foremost, our family was sharing an activity that we all enjoy and we created memories that will last a lifetime. Secondly, we met new people and we made new friends. Lastly….I found out our marina now has wireless internet access!!! Woo hoo!!!

I hope you had a great weekend as well. I look forward to writing something this week that I hope you’ll find useful and helpful.

Chris

Hi Chris! Hope you don’t mind being tagged at http://www.angelabetts.com/blog/2007/06/27/tagged-blogs-bloggers/

If you do, my feelings won’t be hurt. ;-)

    Hi Hungary Real Estate,
Ironic indeed…what is the saying, “the best laid plans of mice & men, often go awry” :)

Hello Angela! I’ll be happy to participate, but it may be this evening before I get a chance to sit down and write something. Just wanted to let you know I’m in! It will actually be kinda fun. This is my first time to get “tagged” for something like this.

Sorry to hear about your wet weekend!

I use to live in Van Buren and would travel to Greers Ferry every year at the end of Feb and beginning of March in search of those giant Walley. Never did do very well, but had a good time trying.

    Hi Don!

You know, I’ve never been to Van Buren but I hear it’s a really neat little town.

I’ve tried the walleye fishing once, and didn’t do much good myself :( I hear they’re a lot of fun to catch if you ever find them biting?

I’m glad you dropped by! I took the opportunity to take a look at your blog. Looks like I need to be reading you more often. Affiliate marketing is an area I really enjoy and sounds like you’ve been involved for quite some time?

Best of luck to you and don’t be a stranger! I’ll subscribe to your feed and check in to see what I can learn!
    Best regards,
    Chris

My weekend turned out to be better than yours. I managed to have good weekend with my family minus the scary part inside the cable car.

    Hi Bismut!

Just read about the scary part of your weekend. I can see where that would be a bit unnerving! Sounds like all turned out well and I’m sure the view was fantastic!
I had a similar experience on the Sandia Peak tram a few years ago. I don’t care much for heights either.

Glad you had a great weekend…hope this one is even better. Thank you for dropping by and contributing!
