Sitters from Sittercity

By golly…I’m going to promote Sittercity because I really think this is a cool idea! I can’t tell you how many times we’ve bugged family and friends to babysit, just because we didn’t know anyone local that we trusted. We tried Sittercity a few weeks ago and had a great experience! Their system works as smooth as clockwork! Here is a place where you can go and type in your zip code, find a sitter that is local and one that has the qualifications you’re looking for! You can also locate dog walkers, pet sitters, senior care, housesitters, tutors and nannies! I just think this is a great idea! You get profiles on the sitters and can even get background checks so you know your child, (pet, house, etc), is in good hands! If you are ever in need of a sitter, I would encourage you to check them out. We love this business and I know you will too!

Thanks for mentioning sittercity. We’ve needed such a service for a while since kids require sitting and there are many cases when family members cannot assist.

This was a great idea! I just checked out sittercity and I’ll definitely use it for my pets next time. Last time I had a friend watch my rabbit and it mysteriously died. . .

Thats cool that you can find a babysitter on the internet, I’m not sure I would go to the internet to find someone to take care of my kid, but still its a good idea.

Our experience with Sittercity has been nothing but negative. Save your money. We secured highly qualified child care from two women who posted on Craigslist. One has her masters in education and the other is a previous pre-school administrator. Both contacted us within in hours of our inquiry to them, and both provided us with resumes and references. On the otherhand, Sittercity provided us nothing. The postings were out dated, and we received only one response from the number of contacts we made. What was even more frustrating and disheartening was the lack of response, care and concern we received from Sittercity itself. The customer service (I use this term very loosely) employees were unconcerned and not at all helpful. We attempted to remedy this situation through email and phone conversation, but heard nothing through email, and was met with cold and unconcerned employees. Even though we have paid for a year’s membership, we are walking away.

    Hi Michelle,

Thank you for your comment. It sounds like we had different experiences with SitterCity, but I think it’s good to hear the views & experiences of others. It helps everyone make informed decisions. Thanks again

VERY cool! You can also search for doulas in your area, which is someone that every woman should consider having with her during childbirth.
