Scalpers Ruin Hannah Montana Show At Alltel Arena In North Little Rock Arkansas

If you don’t have a youngster that’s a big fan of Miley Cyrus, (aka Hannah Montana), then you probably won’t care much for this post. Wait a minute…this post is about ticket scalping so you may find yourself in a similar situation some day! Read on…
My daughter, like so many other youngsters, is a huge fan of Hannah Montana. She would love nothing more than to go see the Hannah Montana concert on December 1st at Alltel Arena in North Little Rock Arkansas. Unfortunately, that won’t be possible because it seems that scalpers snatched up the majority of the tickets in a matter of minutes, and are now trying to sell them at outrageous prices. I love my daughter and I’d do most anything for her…but I won’t pay $200 or $300 for tickets that should be selling for $60! I watched a video interview with Billy Ray Cyrus, Miley Cyrus’ father, and he stated that what had happened was beyond their control. He said that they were out to put on a good show for the fans, and whatever happened with regards to ticket sales is not something that they could do anything about. I would probably agree with that, and I’m sure they really don’t care because they’re getting their money for the ticket sales. They may suffer if not many people attend the concert and therefore aren’t purchasing t-shirts and souvenirs?
I’d love to see people fight back against these ridiculous prices and leave the scalpers holding a bunch of tickets they can’t get rid of! Of course there will be some people that can afford to pay “any” price to get the best seats in the arena, and I’m sure that ticket prices will drop as the concert gets closer, “if” the tickets aren’t selling. I doubt that the scalpers will lose any money on this concert, but I think it’s sad that they can manipulate an event like this and get away with it. In my opinion, it’s very wrong. But I suppose that price gouging doesn’t bother some business people, (if you want to call them business people)?
I’d enjoy hearing your comments.

We are having this same debate in Denver with the world series tickets. They go on sale Monday at 10:00 but only online. The fear is the scalpers will buy them all up first and dramatically increase the price of the tickets
ticket scalpers are the biggest exploiters of supply and demand…I can see if you buy an extra ticket by accident or have one cause someone else couldn’t make it and you want to sell it…but like you said you don’t want to pay $200 for a freaking ticket. But I’m not really sure how you could combat this…maybe boycott buying em like you said
Thanks folks for your comments. It’s frustrating…but what do you do? I know the attorney general in Arkansas is checking into the matter, but asides from that, I doubt much will happen.
I recently attended a concert where the tickets originally sold at 60. When I got to the show I found out that almost no one there payed that price. The average price payed was 200.
Scalpers really annoy me. To do this to adults is one thing but to do it to kids is something even far more dastardly.
I think that’s probably the worst case of scalping I’ve heard of yet.
Generally though I don’t mind scalpers, they’ve been life savers for me and allowed me to get in to a show that was sold out and I would have never been able to get to in time to buy tickets for anyway.
They indeed making profit out of it. Well i encounter this once which i having my vacations. I couldn’t book any cuz it already full by that time, and this old guy came to us selling us his room for triple price. This counted as good or bad, well you decide.
I will not paid $200 for a concert ticket. Ticketmaster needs a better way of controlling the purchase of tickets. I was on the phone purchaseing tickets had given CC# and phone was disconnected when I called back no tickets were available. The scalpers are makeing a bundle off this concert
Im sick of these scalpers. They ruin everything. They should be banned. Its not that hard. Its that ebay doesn’t want to lose their services and traffic. I think we need to act harder against this.

i guess you just gotta beat them to buying the tickets somehow… thats the only way i can think of without getting screwed over like this. that and go wait in line with a bunch of friends so whoever gets the lucky number to buy the tickets first can get em for all of you.
Pardon my ignorance, but I thought scalping was against the law. Maybe only in some states?
Somebody educate me.
Hi Angela,
I thought the same thing. I guess the scalpers have found some kind of loophole here?!?!
scalping illegal in Arkansas, but it is not illegal to SELL the tickets to scalpers such as Ticketmaster did in this instance.
I was fired from my job of 16 years a few months ago and we aren’t going to have much money to spend on our 4 kids for Christmas. My 7 year old daughter understands this and told me all she wants for Christmas is to see Hannah in Little Rock. Thanks to the scalpers, my child will have an even more dissapointing Christmas. There has to be a way to trace all those ticket sales back to the companies that are exploiting the system; void those tickets and let the real fans purchase them.
I hear ya Pam. It’s plain old “price gouging” as far as I’m concerned. I’m going to check with the Arkansas AG to see if they were able to find out anything. I’ll try to report back here. I would assume that there’s not much that can be done at this point.
I would guess that if you were to wait out in front of Alltel the day of the show, you would probably be able to get tickets at a decent price after the show starts. I’m sure that whatever is left will be selling for regular price or below? That kinda stinks…but I don’t know if there are any other options?
I really hope you’re able to find some tickets.
Chris
That is really annoying. Its wierd its illegal for scalpers to scalp but ticket master can sell 200 tickets to random people. If ticketmaster would limit the number of tickets it sold to an individual that would help cut down on this.
I hate scalpers too! They ruin every show including Hannah Montana that is coming her on December 1st. When it gets closer to the hannah montana concert i bet they will drop the price on the Hannah Montana tickets. We will just have to wait and see what they will do with the hannah montana tickets. I heard you were only allowed to by 4 tickets per person that is what i heard on the radio because everyone wants to go see Hannah Montana and the Jonas brothers.
I HOPE THE HANNAH MONTANA TICKETS BECAUSE SHE ROCK!!!!!!!!!!!!
The BEST and most effective sollution is to Boycott scalpers prices…..
Refuse to pay more then the tickets face value….and make the scalpers eat the tickets…
An organized effort wouldn’t take that long and we wouldn’t have to miss that many concerts before the scalpers find it bad business to buy up huge lots of tickets.
Ok, so Alltel released 2800 more tickets to the Little Rock concert today at noon. I was online and calling at the same time. I set my timer on my cell phone and at 12:00:15 there were no tickets left. I needed 3 tickets…not available; so I went back and asked for one ticket: none available by 12:00:28. The news media is reporting it took 3 minutes for all 2,800 tickets to be sold when in reality it was 30 seconds. I never got anything but a busy signal via phone. I’ll just get my little girl something for Christmas that will last more than a few hours because I refuse to pay more than face value.
Hi Wes,
I agree that boycotting would be the best way to combat what they’re doing, but unfortunately I think there are far too many people that ARE willing to pay the prices for the tickets.
Isn’t it interesting how the scalpers chose this particular show to snatch up all the tickets? They knew that lots of parents would be willing to spend whatever they had to spend, in order to get their children into that concert. Sad but true.
Thanks for your comment!
Chris
Hi Pam,
Yes…I was sitting on go at my computer and my wife and her sister were both calling. We were all ready to go at 12:00 sharp. Actually, I was checking online earlier than that. Needless to say, none of us came up with a single ticket. As my wife said…it just wasn’t meant to be.
As much as your child and mine would like to go to the concert, perhaps they’ll learn something from this experience thats worth more than any ticket to the Hannah Montana concert? I’ll gladly explain to mine exactly what happened and I think she’ll understand and realize that sometimes greedy people can ruin special events like this for a lot of other people. What “comes around” eventually “goes around”.
I hope that you’re somehow able to come up with tickets.
Chris
I am so sorry that so few were able to get to see this show - it was really great. I lucked out and got 4 tickets for $300 about 2 days before the Tampa show on ebay (so I ended up only paying about 40 -50 bucks more than face value). The seats from adult standards were awful but my daughter thought they were wonderful and her enjoyment was the reason we went anyway. I heard they are making a movie using real concert footage so they is one possibility for the kids who did not get to see Hannah. Just hope scalpers don’t snatch up these tickets too!!!
I’m skeptical of course, but what the hell, let’s give it a try.
Before purchasing the tickets, you have to first look out for Hannah Montana Tour Schedule so that you can buy the right ticket. On the schedule you can see where the show taken place on certain date and time. For example on 11/12/2007 on 7:00 pm, Hannah Montana show will be held at AT&T Center at Houston,TX. All Hannah Montana tickets will be delivered via Federal Express to the cardholder billing address. Ticket Solutions guarantees your Hannah Montana tickets for an unforgettable entertainment experience!
I wish there was a way they could stop ticket scalpers, but the only way I can see is to either have everyone buy tickets at the door the night of, or to require that you can only buy one ticket per person. That still won’t work though. I’m sorry you didn’t get to go. She came to Utah for the fourth of July and I could hear it from my house, it was insane.
I think that scalpers are horrible people. Every time when I hear about one event that i want to join, I plan my money to be enough for the ticket. But almost every time I had to spend much more than I was thought initially because I had to buy tickets from scalpers. I just hate them.
good article good written, congrats
